Before deciding to replace your furnace, determine its age. If the furnace isn’t too old, you should consider postponing its replacement. But when replacing your air conditioning unit, it’s generally a good idea to replace your furnace as well.
This is because your new air conditioning unit most likely has greater efficiency with a SEER beyond 16. Old furnaces won’t contribute to the overall efficiency of your new unit. Replacing your furnace at the same time as replacing your AC will be a better option in the long-run, as you can get better AC performance.
Keep in mind that a furnace replacement at the same time as an air conditioner and coil replacement will save you money in the long run.
